After today’s official inauguration, almost 300 students and teachers at Prasat Koul primary school in Angkor Chum district of Siem Reap province can get additional readings at a new library, comfortably have their breakfast in a new kitchen and dining room, and enjoy classroom new chairs and tables.
“Though we are more remote, it does not mean we have less facilities. I therefore encourage our students to study hard. We are lucky to have all basic school facilities. Before we received water filter system and playground. Now we have new table and chairs, dining rooms and library,” addressed Angkor Chum District Governor Mr. Lok Phos to participating guests.
The assistance, of over US$ 54,000, from Hyundai Motors through Plan International offices in Cambodia and Korea intends to promote quality teaching and learning as well as to discourage dropouts in the impoverished community.
The inauguration of half-a-year work was participated by some 400 education officials, local authorities, donor representatives, students and the community people in Koul commune of Angkor Chum district.
On behalf of the local authorities, Mr. Lok Phos expressed his appreciation to the donors for their contribution to long-term human resource development in his location.
