Plan’s proactive measure was responded with renewed commitment of the Cambodian National Council for Children (CNCC) to push the adoption of the National Plan for Child Development and the guiding document on Child Protection and Code of Conducts – further moves to promote the fulfillment, protection and respect of child rights.
The commitment was resulted by two separate meetings today between Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation H.E. Vorng Saut and Secretary General of Cambodian National Council for Children (CNCC) H.E. Men Socheth and Plan International Cambodia delegate led by Country Director Mr. Jan Jaap Kleinrensink.
Took place at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh, the meeting also touched on the terms of reference between the two parties to boost the National Child Protection System in Cambodia.
“It’s been a fruitful cooperation between Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and Plan and I am looking forward for more achievements,” said H.E. Vorng Saut.
The current cooperation between the ministry, home to the Cambodian National Council for Children, and Plan has been running since 2014 until 2016.
“An essence of Plan’s approach is to ensure sustainability of our interventions. Toward sustainability, it’s so important that we have the engagement and ownership of government counterpart in the process of our work,” said Mr. Jan Jaap Kleinrensink.
In his response, Secretary General of CNCC H.E. Men Socheth also appreciated the flourishing partnership and made it clear that: “Our effort so far is not only meant for the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation or Plan, but for Cambodian children.”
